Multiple Os

The science of becoming orgasmic, experiencing orgasms, and having multiple orgasms.

A Compilation of Umit Sayin’s Findings on Female Extended Sexual Response

One of the last studies that Umit Sayin published synthesizes many of the key findings from his previous work on female extended sexual response. It is also open source, so for those who do not have access to databases, this is accessible for you:

While this work does a great job with covering aspects of female response, it’s main weakness is it does not do a good job covering male response in the brief mentions of it. For instance, it conflates male orgasm and ejaculation as is often done in the literature. Notably, Sayin has not done any studies on male response.

Sayin also talks about ancient male tantric practitioners who were encouraged to have sex for many hours so the assumed female partner can have multiple orgasms. Depending on the type of tantra and the individual’s belief, they tended to not ejaculate in order to conserve what they believe is sexual energy. What is overlooked is that these males might have had multiple non-ejaculatory orgasms in these three-hour-long sessions. Just because they did not ejaculate, it does not mean they did not have any orgasms.

Another thing that I realized recently through studying historical works, such as those on transpersonal sexual experiences by Jenny Wade, is the notion that the East was sex positive and the West was sex negative historically is an oversimplification. It does not account for all the multiple shifts from positivity to negativity in both the East and the West in all these different countries over the last couple thousand years. I plan to cover Jenny Wade’s work in the weeks to come.
